Tobias Read is Oregon state treasurer, elected in 2016. Previously, he served for a decade in the Oregon House of Representatives, where he was House majority whip and championed legislation to invest in public education, improve state financial management, finance infrastructure improvements, and help Oregonians save for the future. In 2015, Read was a chief sponsor of the Oregon Retirement Savings Plan, which became the first operating state-based retirement program in 2017. Prior to his election to the state legislature in 2006, Read worked in the US Treasury as an aide to former secretary Larry Summers and for Nike as a liaison between designers, engineers, and manufacturing units
