Tommy Caldwell is a professional climber and writer. As a Global Sport Activist ambassador for Patagonia, he inspires outdoor enthusiasts to fight to protect our planet. Caldwell is recognized for his ascents on the walls of Yosemite Valley. Most recently, he and climbing partner Alex Honnold broke the two-hour speed barrier on the 3,000-foot Nose route of El Capitan, where he also established the most free-climbing routes. In 2015, Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson climbed its 3,000-foot Dawn Wall. Covered by The New York Times, National Geographic, TIME, ABC, CNN, and ESPN and acknowledged by President Obama, the film The Dawn Wall was based on this accomplishment. Caldwell writes about the threats facing our wild places, and his memoir is The Push: A Climber's Journey of Endurance, Risk, and Going Beyond Limits, a New York Times best-seller.
