Jordan High School Basketball Head Coach; Former Grape Street Crip Gang Member
Tyrone Riley is head coach of the boys basketball team at Jordan High School in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles, where he was once a member of the Grape Street Crips gang. Under Riley’s leadership, the team has achieved athletic and academic success including a 100% graduation rate among players. Previously, he attended the University of San Francisco through basketball and ranked as twelfth all-time three-point shooter. Witness to his mother’s murder as a child and a shooting survivor himself, Riley has been integral to Watts peace efforts by participating in dialogues between rival gangs, law enforcement, and community leaders.
