Waqar Ajmal is a senior program officer with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, a member of the polio team and the foundation’s lead on polio eradication activities in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Before joining the foundation as a staff member, he was a foundation consultant based in Pakistan, covering Pakistan and Afghanistan on polio eradication. Prior to that, he worked in Nigeria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan on polio through WHO. Ajmal also has more than 20 years of progressive experience in planning and management of large-scale public health and development programs as a team leader, short-term consultant, and staff member of the United Nations, of governments, and of NGOs.
