Yessenia Funes is a journalist who’s been covering issues surrounding the climate crisis and environmental racism for 10 years. She’s editor at large for Atmos Magazine and as a freelance journalist has been published in The Guardian, Vogue, National Geographic, Patagonia, Grist and more. Funes publishes a weekly creative climate newsletter called Possibilities, is the environmental justice columnist for the Society of Environmental Journalists, and is a consultant and public speaker. Previously, she was climate director and climate editor for Atmos, a senior staff writer at Earther, a climate justice reporter for Colorlines, and assistant editor at YES! Magazine, among others. She has also been an adjunct professor at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
