Success in Leadership and Life: A Function of Principles

Setup

“To be principled means to consistently operate with principles that can be clearly explained,” writes Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates and one of the world’s most successful investors and entrepreneurs. Dalio has written and shared the principles that guide him in life and business in his best-selling book, Principles: Life & Work, in hopes that others will do the same. He believes that writing down your principles helps you clarify them, builds trust, lets others know what you stand for, increases effectiveness, and reduces duality. He attributes his own achievements to his principles, which allowed him to build a unique culture of “radical truth and radical transparency” and which he also recently shared in a 30 minute animation called Principles for Success.
