Cameron Kerry is the inaugural Ann R. and Andrew H. Tisch Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Governance Studies and at the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings Institution. Focused on information privacy and security and the digital economy, he leads The Privacy Debate at Brookings, seeking to bring thought leadership to a national privacy law. Kerry is also a visiting scholar at MIT Media Lab. Previously, he was general counsel and acting secretary of the US Department of Commerce. There, he informed Obama administration policies on privacy, cybersecurity, and the flow of information and technology across international borders and led development of the 2012 White House Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights. Kerry is a National Archives Foundation board and Microsoft Corporation advisory board member.
